moving, still

We spent the weekend moving and settling, but mostly moving. If we are being honest here, and I am, the whole process of moving has lost its charm. It's three weeks to Christmas; and, quite frankly, I would rather be doing other things.
But needs must. With the help of friends, we were able to clear out pretty much everything this weekend and now we are left with only the basement (which we have artfully avoided since Halloween). We only have a week left before the house goes to its new owner (hip, hip, hooray!) so we should probably tackle that soon. Soonish...now."

and....we're back

Back in AUGUST (I know!) we went to Washington DC. Papa Seal had a conference, so the rest of us tagged along. I put the pictures in flickr (there are tons of pictures there for the viewing, really--and some of them are hilarious), but never posted about it. We had a good time.We were able to meet up with my friend Pin.

And the pups and I got a chance to see a lot of the Mall while Papa went to training sessions.

After we got back from DC we kept ourselves busy. I finished a book chapter for a book being published next spring. Get excited. Papa tore apart our downstairs bathroom to renovate it. Seal Pup 2.0 had surgery on his ears.
And we decided to buy a new house while trying to also sell the one we are currently living in. So now we are packing. Good times!
I am sure we did other things that are probably worth mentioning, but I can't think of them now. I will try to be better about updating, so as not to make you think the blog is defunct, because it isn't. I just haven't prioritized updating, which is usually my biggest blogger pet peave (unless, or course, I am the one not blogging). But now we're back.

around the house

A great deal is made about spring cleaning; but, if I were being honest, I would have to say we do more household refurbishment in the fall than at any other time of year. And by refurbishment, I mean anything that improves the status of our home--and here I, indeed, do include such menial tasks as taking out the trash (it's the little things, really). We are busy people, or haven't you noticed?

There is the obvious neccessity of raking and bagging leaves (because, Ohai! We live in New England). There were only 28 bags this year (but there is at least two bags worth sitting in piles, so that's something (what, I have no idea).

And just to shake things up a little, we also painted a room in the house. It only took us 5 and a half years; but, we finally painted the master bedroom (and by we, I mean Papa, with light assist--that was not me).

There are probably some of you who are shocked about this, knowing how much Papa and I loathe home improvement projects that we have to undertake ourselves in general; but this time we had help.

Pretty soon, he is going to be doing it all himself.

Hopefully, he will still think it's fun at that point.

like a whirlwind into october

Things have been a little crazy around here. Since we have more craziness coming up, I figured I should do an update now before things get too ridiculous.

First thing: at the end of September, I ran a 5K (I know some of you are more shocked than I am about this; but, it's true). It was my first 5K in 17 years. I did okay, I won't be winning any prizes anytime soon; but, I ran the whole thing, so that's something.

It was cold.

After my 5K race, we went to CGA for a football game (yes, it's that time of the year).

It was SP2.0's first football game. We arent' sure what his feelings are about the sport as of yet, we will let you know.

After that, we spent a ridiculous amount of time prepping our house for new windows.

They are supposed to be energy efficient.

Quite frankly, we will settle for anything that stops those charming New England drafts that have graced us for our last 5 winters here.

I guess you could say that we are really ready for the winter now.
