one weekend's worth of fun

There was one weekend, back in October, that I never got around to mentioning. I should do that now. During the weekend before Halloween, we went headed up to Maine for our annual LL Bean run. We ended up cutting the trip short because we wanted to have the pups dedicated at church, so we ended up in Maine for an overnight, which was all the time to we needed to do the things we most wanted to do.

We ate a great breakfast (BreaLu is very family friendly, though I love Bintliff's American Cafe, it's hard to have an enjoyable experience there with young children, in my opinion).

And then we went to L.L. Bean. SP1.0 got a winter coat and ski pants--there was a lot of dressing going on (the new duds will see a lot of action, because it will eventually go to SP2.0 (as is the nature of hand-me-downs).
And then we headed Connecticut so we could get the boys dedicated at church. Not a lot of shots from the dedication as we were all on stage (and it still amuses me that so many people in general; but, especially at church think SP2.0 is a girl).

After the dedication we headed to the apple orchard and picked apples.

We picked a pumpkin.And then went home and made applesauce. It was a good weekend!

northern exposure

A few weekends ago, we wandered to parts northern, but separately. While I was in Conway, New Hampshire doing all things crafty, Papa and the Pup went to Portland (and Cape Elizabeth), Maine to visit with friends.

It was fun for Papa Seal to catch up with an old classmate, and the Pup got a chance to make a new friend. There was much rolling down hills. It was also a good opportunity to test out the sunglasses that our friend Lennon gifted for his birthday.

He is clearly a fan! Thanks Lennon!

We are leaving for an adventure on the left coast tomorrow...at 4:30 in the morning (it seemed like a good idea at the time). Papa is attending a conference. The Pup and I will post another catch up post during the week as we won't have any conference sessions to go to.

maine memories

We had some fun times over the weekend. We headed to points north in the great state of Maine, also known as "vacationland." We drove up on Friday night in the wet miserable rain. Saturday was kind of wet and gloomy too. But Sunday was a gorgeous day to be in New England. We made the most of all of our time there (when we were actually awake).

Papa Seal and the pup decided to take advantage of the comfy hotel bed and sleep in. A great way to start the day, apparently. After waking up, it was off to our favorite breakfast resturant.

Bintliff's is the resturant by which we measure all others for breakfast fare. Try not to go on Sundays, it's packed (think sardines).

Our breakfast was extra fun because I got a chance to catch up with a good friend that I met when I worked in Portland. It's always good to talk to the people on the other side of your cubicle, you might like them (and they might even like you)!

After breakfast, we headed up to Freeport to check out L.L. Bean. It's interesting that the place is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. You never know when you might need a flannel shirt, or something.

I am so excited about this coat. Can't you tell?

We needed a good coat for the pup. Winter's coming and he has outgrown his other winter wear.

After Freeport, we headed to Brunswick and Bath to visit a few yarn shops (Purl Diva and Halcyon Yarn), a Wandering Seals Family tradition (at least as far as I am concerned).

Since the forcast was for sun on Sunday, Papa Seal decided to wake up at sunrise to shoot a few shots of Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth.

I decided to let me inner photographer sleep that morning. The pup and I went back with Papa Seal later, at a more hospitable time.

It was also fun to drive by our old apartment (which is really nice now, they tenants have garages even!) and by the cute little lighthouse that was near our old place.
